The Whitsundays in Five Days
qualia as the base, the Reef as the day, the quiet as the structure.

The Whitsundays are the closest Australia gets to the Maldives in their islands-and-clear-water register, and qualia is the singular property that makes the trip feel less like a resort visit and more like a peninsula stay. The five-day version is the version we recommend; three days does not justify the flights, seven turns into too much.
The trip below: qualia for all five nights with the Beach House upgraded if the budget allows; one full day on the Reef proper (Heart Reef helicopter scenic plus Whitehaven Beach landing); one day on the water with a private skipper rather than the resort tender; one day at the resort spa with no schedule; the closing dinner at Pebble Beach restaurant.
The picks

Stay (5 nights)
qualia
Sixty pavilions across the northern peninsula of Hamilton Island. The Windward pavilions face the Coral Sea with private plunge pools; the Leeward pavilions step into bushland. The Beach House is the principal-tier upgrade, with its own twelve-metre infinity pool and private guest house. Helicopter from the Hamilton Island airstrip is the arrival.

Heli scenic, day two
Sydney HeliCharter
Heart Reef + Whitehaven Beach landing scenic from the qualia helipad. Three hours, sand-bar lunch on Whitehaven, return via Hill Inlet. The most photographed natural feature on the East Coast deserves the helicopter angle, not the boat angle.

Private day on the water
Lifestyle Charters
A private skipper from a Sydney-based operator, not a resort tender. Ask qualia concierge for the named-skipper booking. A day exploring Hook Island and Border Island gives you the Reef without the cruise-ship crowds at Whitehaven.

Pre-trip preparation
Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat
For the principal who has trouble unwinding on a beach: a two-night Gwinganna stay before the flight north makes the qualia week land properly. Otherwise the first two days at qualia are just the body adjusting.
The Whitsundays season runs April-November (cyclone risk December-March, though shoulder weather is gettable). July-August is the busiest window; June and September are the better trips. Flights via Hamilton Island airport (HTI) from Sydney/Brisbane direct.
If the trip is for two nights only, take the Cabinet's Sunday on the Harbour combination instead. The Whitsundays does not work compressed.
